Francesco Cangi & The Lonely Rockets è il primo progetto da leader del trombonista e polistrumentista fiorentino Francesco Cangi, alla guida di un power trio composto da Antonio Amabile alle tastiere e synth e da Donald Renda alla batteria.

L’album d’esordio What if the Universe..? racchiude brani interamente composti, ideati e suonati da Francesco Cangi: un progetto che nasce dall’esigenza di raccontare la propria identità musicale in un contesto pieno di influenze, nella fusione tra alta formazione jazzistica e radicato background pop rock, alla ricerca di una sonorità particolare, caratteristica ed orecchiabile. Con la partecipazione di grandi ospiti come Riccardo Onori, Dario Cecchini e Sabina Sciubba e con la collaborazione artistica del fratello Samuele Cangi, What if the Universe..? raccoglie brani che spaziano dal new jazz strumentale al funk elettronico, contaminati dall’uso massiccio di sintetizzatori, melodie imponenti, robuste brass section, e tanto groove: sempre e tutto rigorosamente al servizio della musica.

The debut album What if the Universe..? features tracks entirely composed, conceived, and played by Francesco Cangi: a project born from the need to express his musical identity in a context full of influences, merging advanced jazz training and a strong pop rock background, in search of a unique, distinctive, and catchy sound. With the participation of great guests such as Riccardo Onori, Dario Cecchini, and Sabina Sciubba, and with the artistic collaboration of his brother Samuele Cangi, What if the Universe..? includes tracks ranging from instrumental new jazz to electronic funk, contaminated by the massive use of synthesizers, powerful melodies, robust brass section, and lots of groove: always and rigorously at the service of music.
